A Prayer in Verse

Call me “Singing Rock”!
Let there be no doors to knock.
Blessed be thou land!
I know the ways of man…

Disease makes one weaker,
Spirit makes one stronger.

The perennial lives on,
The biannual dies and lives on,
The annual is gone and gone.

How I love the tribal flute songs,
Some old traditions should live on,

In the land of plenty,
There is great bounty
If we follow the old farming ways,
The “Three Sisters Planting”
The way of always giving,
The path back to “Natural Farming”.
Let the wild birds eat today,
The wild turkeys can always stay
And have the food they need.
This goes against the ways of greed.
A nitrogen fixer!
To make the soil stronger!
A cover crop
To protect the soil from sunlight.
We are farmers! Are we not?
Sunflowers blooming in the day,
The moonflowers blooming at night,
The maize is a beauty!
Fruit trees flowering in May
And fruiting in July!
Let us rise!
The great land of the Cherokee
As far as my eyes can see.
Let us rise!
What wisdom can ye find?
Do they think us blind?

Let all life have their fill
Ancient stories told still..

Let us rise!
And see through each others eyes.
Let us rise!
For the time is nigh’!

Rise forth! Sow the many seeds.
Throw the seeds with joy
And watch them grow!
Some fast, some slow,
From rice to grains to soy,
The land shall provide all we need
Just start by planting a seed…

Let the Great Spirit bless us…
Let us not farm for greed or lust…
Living with humility,
For better to live in a yurt
And be blessed with an iron shirt
Than have great wealth
And spend lavishly.

Lou, the stars of Orion’s Belt
How these three stars
Cast a light so heavenly…

Let not the Earth turn to ash and tar.
Let us reach the farthest star.

Come together as brothers
In cold, stormy, or hot weather
For humanity stands stronger together.

Lou, let the saints sing
Of the Lord’s blessings.
I give thanks and praise unto the Lord
As I sing and play the many chords
Forever and ever.

A’men!
