A Poem of Tea

The joy of a cup of tea -
I drink it peacefully.
Then I think
While I sip and I drink,
This tea is a blend -
The farmers and laborers who worked to send
This tea from India and China -
Kenya and Indonesia -
All over the Earth
So we can have it first -
First thing in the morning
Or late in the evening.

There’s a story
In a warm cup of tea.
I love a cup of oolong -
The flavors are aromatic and strong.
Green Tea feels heathy
And I also love a cup of jasmine tea.
White tea has a subtle taste -
It is truly great!
Layers of complexity,
Black tea is great for energy.
How I love to drink it!
If I had to grow and make it -
Perhaps I would sip it more gratefully,
With more appreciation
Of the men and women
Who are working -
Working the land in their country
To produce a cup of tranquility -
A cup of serenity -
A true marvel -
Halfway across the world.
Tea is a drinkable pearl

The story,
The history,
The curious explorers
Who discovered the resources
Followed by the generals and soldiers on their horses -
The exploitation of colonizers
Who conquered land
To have such great things
For woman and man.
Things like spices, salt, and tea
For the nobles and the kings
Who sent armies
Across both land and sea.
Now in the 21st century,
We commoners have such pleasant things.
It gives a calming energy -
The energy to talk, dance, or sing.
For tea is delicious -
Sometimes delicate,
Subtle or strong -
A cup of tea
Sings its history
Like a song.
