The Genetic Experiment

Are we from deep space?
I speak of an intergalactic race.
Are we a genetic experiment?
From a distant planet were they sent?
Did they plant our genetic seeds?
Watching us as we drink and eat,
Perhaps amongst the reeds.
Not so different than a spiritual belief
With all our power, what do we seek to reap?

When I saw a flaming meteor -
I had no fear.
It was flying towards me.
I felt a veritable serenity.
How many are in touch with reality?
I told everybody
What I see,
Not a single person believed me.
I did not lie,
I said look at the sky
And see the meteor with your own eyes.
Just to watch the space rock
Burn up before the Earth got shot.

Tho’ the thought of aliens
Who neither care if we choose to sin -
To not care if we all lose or win.
To an alien or an advanced intelligent machine -
Would they care for you and me?
Do they care for humanity?

Are we destined to be,
No less than a bumblebee?

Why else would they come?
And yet still, after all we have done -
The Earth has not met its doom.
Do they seek to gain our trust?
Or perhaps they are waiting for us
To grow fat and plump
And just as soon
As there are enough people to consume,
Then and only then
Will they devour every human!

Why not welcome
Are inevitable doom
Because the fate of mankind
Is destined to die
From the wonders of the night sky.
